Determinants of Physicians' Intention to Use Telemonitoring: an Empirical Study of Task Technology Fit and Quantitative Overload

For the success of telemonitoring acceptance in South Korea, an understanding of physician-level telemonitoring acceptance in medical practices is necessary. It must also reflect the physicians’ clinical practice environment. Therefore, we attempts to find the role of the task‐ technology fit and quantitative overload on physicians' acceptance of telemonitoring. We developed a research model by extending the technology acceptance model based on the task-technology fit and quantitative overload. We used the structural equation modeling technique in order to evaluate its empirical validity and causal relationship. We collected data from a survey from 123 Korean physicians at university hospital. The results indicated that the task-technology fit of telemedicine had a direct impact on the behavioral intention to use. Task-technology fit also affected the behavioral intention to use through perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. However, both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness had no relationships to the quantitative overload. Quantitative overload also did not impact the behavioral intention to use. This study provides insights to design an appropriate telemonitoring model in order to reflect the medical practice. This study could offer both implications and a foundation for future studies on telemedicine in South Korea.
